Why Summer is the Perfect Time to Plan Your Landscape

Summer is the season for spending time with family, traveling and looking for ways to avoid the heat. Outdoor living and landscaping plans are often pushed off until after the kids are back in school or the weather is cooler. Summer is actually a great time of year to get the ball rolling on planning your outdoor living and landscaping needs. Once you are back and rested from your summer travels and while the kids are still at home, consider getting the process started so all of that summer planning can mean boots on the ground and shovels in the dirt come fall.

First up, a common question I get: "How long does it take to start a project?" Well, that depends on a few factors like the scale of your project, HOA regulations, permits, and if there are any historical association hoops to jump through. Generally, from consultation to breaking ground, you’re looking at about 6 to 8 weeks. Here’s the breakdown:

  1. Consultation & Budgeting: This part usually takes about 1-2 weeks. We’ll meet, chat about your vision, and give you a ballpark figure.

  2. Design Phase: This can take anywhere from 1 week to a month, depending on our design queue and the complexity of your project. Once your design is ready and the contract is signed, you are officially in our installation queue.

  3. HOA Approval: If you’ve got an HOA to deal with, they typically take a minimum of 30 days to respond. But lately, some have been stretching it out to 90 days. And yes, they might ask for more info, which can add to the timeline.

  4. Getting “Paper Ready”: Once the design is done, the contract is approved, and the HOA gives the green light, we’re ready to start when your spot in our queue comes up. This is also the time to pull any necessary permits, which usually takes a few days but can be longer for complex projects or homes in historic districts.

Why Not Wait?

By starting now, we ensure your project is ready to roll when the weather cools down. This means less waiting and more enjoying your revamped outdoor space when it’s prime time for BBQs and gatherings.

So, why not use this summer to get ahead? Let's turn those backyard dreams into reality. Give us a shout and let’s get the ball rolling on your landscaping project. Your future self – sipping iced tea in your gorgeous new outdoor living space – will thank you.

Cheers,

Chris
