Stage 3 Water Restrictions: What You Need to Know

You may have heard that as of the end of June, we have now hit Stage 3 Water Restrictions in San Antonio. While this sounds scary, water conservation for our city is crucial. There are some new changes to help ease the burden on recently installed landscapes. We spoke with SAWS about a month ago, and they informed us of these changes, which are now in effect. Here’s a breakdown of the new Stage 3 restrictions:

Irrigation System Watering

Landscape watering with an irrigation system is allowed once a week from 5-10 a.m. and 9-12 p.m. on your designated watering day. This is a hit, but for established yards, using the morning and evening schedule will be enough for your lawn to survive the summer.

Drip Irrigation Watering

Watering with drip irrigation is allowed every Monday and Friday, but only from 5-10 a.m. and 9-12 p.m.. This change reduces drip irrigation from three days a week to two. However, using both the morning and evening watering times will keep new and established garden beds healthy.

Hand-Held Hose Watering

Watering with a hand-held hose is allowed any time on any day. If your landscape is new (under six months), you might find yourself using this method more frequently.
